Jonathan, James and Jess or the 3 J's as we are being very quickly know as in the Steinmetz Gaborone marathon community have recently returned from Botswana's capital for the second time.
With 82 days to go until the race itself the meetings are coming in thick and fast. We spent another 4 days meeting with more local authorities, sponsors and service providers including the police, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, hotels, a production company and a very enthusiastic mayor who we tried to convice to run the marathon but compromised to pulling the trigger on the starting pistol.
Word is really spreading quickly around the city about the marathon, with billboards at most important cross roads and roundabouts, jingles on the radio and appearances on morning television by one of the marathon board members.
One of the J's will return at the end of February for follow up meetings until both James and Jess head down at the end of march, a month before the race - other BSL staff will also be coming down to assist.
